PulseGate: a desktop view of AI activity
A Windows floating island and dashboard for task reminders, token usage, known costs, and system resources.
Several tools, scattered activity
When several AI tools run at once, one task may be generating while another has finished and a third is waiting for permission. Checking each state means switching between windows.
PulseGate brings those signals to the Windows desktop. A floating island shows activity and reminders; a separate dashboard provides task details, usage, costs, and resource readings.
A quick glance or a closer look
The island displays task status and offers sound reminders. Its overview button and the tray menu open the dashboard, where you can inspect today’s activity, collected history, model distribution, and individual tasks.
The dashboard supports daily token and USD budgets you set yourself. It also displays CPU, memory, GPU, video memory, and network readings, with reasons when a metric is unavailable.
Optional Claude Code and Codex permission hooks allow individual approvals or denials. They require separate setup and caller trust review. Automatic approval for exact read-only operations is off by default.
Understanding the numbers
Each tool exposes different information. WorkBuddy context watermarks, for example, are not treated as consumed tokens. Support for Claude Code, Codex, Zcode, and DeepSeek Harness also varies by source.
Recorded costs and estimates are distinguished. Missing prices remain unpriced, totals cover only collected data, and a personal budget is not an official subscription balance.
Records stay on the local machine, and external databases are accessed read-only. Trae, TraeWork, and Doubao have limited activity signals. Pi, OpenClaw, and Hermes adapters need more testing across real installations.
What changed in 0.2.2
This release adds Zcode CLI live database access and complete-frame reading and deduplication for compressed DeepSeek Harness sessions. It also improves WorkBuddy status detection, SQLite WAL monitoring, and custom directory discovery.
Stopped tasks leave the current-task list after five minutes. Their historical usage remains available, keeping current activity separate from accumulated usage.
Download and current status
At publication, the public release is 0.2.2 for Windows x64. GitHub Releases provides EXE and MSI installers, release notes, and SHA-256 checksums.
The installers are unsigned, so Windows may display an unknown-publisher notice. Clean-device installations, custom WSL directories, and additional upstream versions still need more validation.
The public repository hosts documentation and downloads. It does not contain the complete application source. It is also the place to check support details or report an issue.
